i stopped posting monthly photos a while back, primarily because it became impossible to wrangle thea into the chair and get her to sit still with a sign for even a few seconds. i do miss having a recap since the changes that happen over the course of thirty days are pretty incredible so i'm committing to writing one whether i have photos or not.
i can easily sum up thea's development of late with two words: worker bee. she has multiple periods each day when she enters into 'worker bee' mode and the amount of things that are moved/transferred/emptied out/displaced is nothing short of astonishing. i'm quite certain that the egyptians employed 14-month-olds to build the pyramids, and even with their little arms and legs, it probably only took them a week to complete the job.
we give thea a bath almost every night [sometimes every other depending on how messy she gets during dinner]. she has a set of letters and numbers for the bath and in the time it takes to fill the tub with six inches of water she carries each letter and number, one by one, from her room and throws it into the tub. if you're counting, that's 36 trips in a matter of minutes!
thea took her language skills up a notch this month, adding 'excuse me' and a handful of other phrases to her vocabulary. we went to the doctor this morning for her 15 month appointment and he was impressed [and a little taken aback] when she greeted him with 'hi, how are you?' he thinks her language skills are on the level of a two-year-old. she's 33 inches tall [97th percentile] and weighs 23 pounds, 9 ounces [60th percentile].
she also fell in love with abby from sesame street this month and come to find out, her full name is abby cadabby, which is fitting since one of thea's favorite words is abracadabra. my dad taught her a few magic tricks last time we were with him and she must have been practicing in her crib at night because she brought them out in full force over the last few weeks. her favorite is to hide food in her ears and say, 'all gone!'
the last thing i'll mention before this post gets waaay too long is that thea started swim lessons back in january. she's completed eight lessons so far and in the process has become a really good little swimmer. if you could call it that. actually she's more of a good underwater breath holder since that's pretty much what they practice every lesson. she's developed quite a crush on her teacher, rocky. it's 'rocky this' and 'rocky that' and 'hi rocky' with her these days and it's making zack a little nervous :) some day i'll have photos from the lessons but it's impossible for me to take them now since i have to be in the pool with her.
here's to another incredibly fun month with our little thee.
